A Place to Remember is my reflection on those quiet, deeply personal moments I’ve experienced in the Australian outback where the landscape feels endless, yet somehow incredibly familiar. I’ve used warm, sunbaked tones of ochre, rust, and dusty red to ground the work in that raw, unmistakable beauty of the land. The soft, pale blue sky stretches gently above, creating a calm contrast, while the darker ridge line anchors the horizon. For me, there’s a real sense of heat, stillness, and memory in these layered brushstrokes, as though the land is holding onto stories just beneath the surface.

In the foreground, my signature mark-making becomes more expressive and intuitive, bringing movement and life into the piece. Loose, gestural strokes in muted greens and deep charcoals suggest the scrub and native growth that persist through the dryness. These marks aren’t about painting a specific place exactly as it is, but about capturing how  to be there. This work is really about that emotional connection - a place where everything slows down, and you can just be.

The canvas is an original piece and comes with d rings and wire ready to hang. The piece is UNFRAMED unless the framing option is chosen. Sides are are painted in a crisp white to set off the artwork. The work is created in acrylic paint. All work has been sealed and varnished for protection.
