In this devine abstract landscape, I’ve played with the beautiful contrast between the warm, earthy reds and ochres of the Australian Outback and the fresh greens of the land below. I love the way these colours work together, with the soft blue sky bringing a sense of openness and light to the painting. For me, it’s about capturing the character of this incredible country and the feeling I get from being surrounded by its raw, natural beauty.

As always, I’ve enjoyed letting loose with my brushwork and adding those spontaneous scribbles, marks and little details that give the work its own personality. I haven’t wanted to capture every detail of a particular place, but rather the energy and feeling of the landscape as I see it. There’s a lovely sense of movement and freedom in this piece, and I hope the rich colours and expressive marks bring a little of that unmistakable Australian spirit into someone’s home.
