In this latest beach work ‘The Mystic Sea’, I wanted to capture the simple, windswept beauty of our Australian coastline. The pale, open sky stretches quietly above deep teal and turquoise waters, rolling steadily toward the shore. I was drawn to that wonderful sense of space of the calm horizon balanced by the movement of the sea and the distant headland.

In the foreground, I used loose, expressive brushstrokes to bring the sandy shoreline to life. Warm ochres and soft creams sit against the cool blues of the water, and energetic touches of white suggest the waves breaking along the edge. Small flecks of yellow and earthy browns hint at seaweed and natural debris scattered along the tide line. My signature mark-making adds movement and spontaneity, allowing the piece to feel fresh and alive as if you can almost feel the breeze and hear the rhythmic wash of the ocean.
