In Outback - Ochre and Desire, I’ve captured the raw beauty and warmth of the Australian landscape through a palette of rich ochres, burnt earth tones and glowing golden yellows. I love the contrast between the expansive blue sky and the intensity of the land below, creating a sense of heat, distance and endless space. Loose, expressive marks and layered textures suggest scattered trees, waterways and distant fields, allowing the landscape to emerge rather than being too literally defined.

I wanted this work to feel both grounded and full of energy, a landscape that carries the unmistakable character of the Australian outback. The flashes of orange, pink and green bring moments of life into the earthy expanse, while the broad horizon gives the painting a wonderful sense of freedom. Outback - Ochre and Desire is my interpretation of that powerful pull I feel towards the Australian landscape, its colour, its vastness and its ability to make me stop and simply take it all in.
